Anne is Director of the Laboratory for Community and Economic Development, and serves on the Community and Economic Development Team for University of Illinois Extension. Her work focuses on topics such as leadership development, community leadership, sustainable agriculture, and telecommunications and access in rural areas.

Jerry Hembd
Associate Professor, University of Wisconsin-Superior

Jerry Hembd is an associate professor of economics at the University of Wisconsin-Superior, a state specialist in community and economic development with the University of Wisconsin (UW)-Extension, and Director of the Northern Center for Community and Economic Development. Jerry has a Ph.D. in Applied Economics from Stanford University and has been working, writing, and teaching in the area of domestic and international community development for more than twenty years. He is a co-author of the UW-Extension publication, Toward a Sustainable Community: A Toolkit for Government, and co-editor of the recently-published book, Renewing the Countryside: Wisconsin.
